Peterson alive and well at Vikings' camp

Tuesday's morning workout was completed with no noticeable injuries. Not surprising considering there was no contact and no pads.

Percy Harvin, who hurt one or more fingers on his right hand Monday afternoon, was favoring the injury Tuesday. He made a couple of one-handed catches with his left arm to avoid further injury.

The morning workouts can get kind of tedious and boring as training camp progresses but virtually all NFL coaches believe that repetition translates into success in games. The thinking is, the more something becomes second nature the more players can concentrate on and grasp other things.

New defensive coordinator Alan Williams spoke to the media after the morning practice. While he's pleased with the team's progress so far, he admitted that not much of the overall defensive scheme has been installed yet.

"I'd say we're at about 20 percent," he said. "We still have a ways to go."

Monday was the first day of the Matt Kalil vs. Jared Allen battle in training camp and, by most accounts, the duo played to a draw. Allen got around Kalil a couple of times but, for the most part, he held his own. Considering how new Kalil is to the NFL that's a pretty good sign for the rookie left tackle.

Less than 24 hours after suffering an allergic reaction to food, Adrian Peterson was on the field Tuesday morning smiling and talking to teammates. He is still not able to practice with the team because he is on the PUP list. Peterson is scheduled to talk the media shortly after 5 p.m. today at the conclusion of the afternoon practice.
