Tackle Pat Brown and running back Jordan Totman left the field with injuries, though neither is believed to be serious. Coach Leslie Frazier said that Brown appeared to have an MCL sprain and might miss a couple of days, while Totman had a sprained ankle that shouldn't keep him out long.
Tight end John Carlson is out two weeks with a sprained knee. Frazier said that rookie cornerback Josh Robinson, who was in pads but did not participate in drills, should be back soon from a hamstring injury, while rookie safety Robert Blanton will be out a little longer with a hamstring injury.
Cornerback Antonie Winfield was given the day off, as has been the case in the past with veteran players. Frazier said they were monitoring Winfield's practice time so that they can keep him fresh for the regular season. Kevin Williams and Jared Allen could get the same treatment in the future.
Allen made a media splash Wednesday by saying that he disagreed with any attempt to keep him off the field, saying nobody had told him about a rotation system in the defensive line. Frazier said Thursday that he's had several conversations with Allen about getting time off, and those things will be determined by the events of the season, as well as the ability to find a competent replacement for the All-Pro.
Frazier said that running back Adrian Peterson is getting close to being activated from the physically-unable-to-perform list. On Thursday, Peterson was running sprints and doing agility and balance drills with trainers on an adjacent practice field. "He's making good progress," Frazier said. "We crossed paths a couple of times today, and he reminded me that he's making good progress."
