First walk-through is intense

OK, maybe that headline is a wee bit misleading.

The Vikings were at Blakeslee Stadium for the cool morning practice, and it wasn't visually interesting.

Kept an eye on former MSU receivers LaMark Brown and Adam Thielen, both who start camp well down the depth chart. But the Vikings' WR corps is hardly an All-Star collection so we'll keep an eye on their progress.

Coach Leslie Frazier said that WR Greg Childs (knees) and LB Nate Williams (ankle) will start camp on the physically-unable-to-participate list, meaning they will work out away from the rest of the team with traiers.

Frazier said that former Vikings' center Matt Birk addressed the team Thursday night at the annual welcome-to-training-camp meeting. Frazier said that Birk, who retired after helping Baltimore win the Super Bowl last season, gave the message to "seize the moment" and "take advantage of this opportunity."

Vikings' alums Jim Marshall and Matt Blair have spoken to the team in previous years.

The team returns to the practice field from 2:30-4:45 p.m. today for its first full practice.
