Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Sunday morning that Adrian Peterson had been activated from the physically-unable-to-perform list, and the running back participated in the morning walk-through, which was moved to Myers Field House because of rain.
"He's done everything he can do on the side," Frazier said.
Peterson is scheduled to talk with the media following Sunday's afternoon practice.
Peter was injured Dec. 24 at Washington and had major knee surgery on Dec. 31. Peterson had been working out with trainers on an adjacent practice field for the first two weeks of training camp and did not play in Friday's preseason game at San Francisco.
Peterson will not be able to practice in pads for two days, meaning his first full practice could be Tuesday. Frazier said that Peterson will be evaluated daily to check his progress and determine how much he can handle.
"The first time he'll get taken to the ground, if I have anything to say about it, will be in a game," Frazier said.
In other injury news, Frazier said that nose guard Letroy Guion suffered a sprained knee ligament against San Francisco and could miss a week of practice. Fred Evans took Guion's place with the first unit Sunday.
He was happy with the performance of kicker Blair Walsh, who was 2 for 2 on field-goal attempts. Frazier liked the poise and command that Christian Ponder showed with the first-team offense.
Frazier wasn't happy with the run defense. Rookie safety Harrison Smith will get more opportunities with the first team. Linebacker Jasper Brinkley "wasn't quite as sharp as we would have liked," Frazier said.
