The Minnesota Vikings will hold their annual night practice at 7 p.m. at Blakeslee Stadium. Don't call it a scrimmage; it's just another practice, but it's held at night with more people watching. There will be hitting but no tackling.
The crowd at the morning walk-through was a little bigger as some fans likely will attend both sessions. About two-thirds of the home side of Blakeslee Stadium was filled in the morning. Both sides will likely be full tonight.
Quarterback Christian Ponder said the night practice is a good way to break the routine of camp. "This is the toughest week. Six days in a row and no game to look forward to."
Running back Adrian Peterson hasn't participated in any full-contact drills in training camp and won't get any contact tonight. He said he'll get his lifting and running done before the second practice. "If they want me to get a little (contact) in the third or fourth (preseason) game, I'll do it," he said.
When asked if he'll pay attention totnight's Hall of Fame induction, he said probably not. But he does envision himself getting that honor some day. "My mindset is to be the best player ever. The Hall of Fame has to come with that."
Defensive coordinator Alan Williams said that safety MIstral Raymond, linebacker Desmond Bishop and cornerback Xavier Rhodes will not participate in the night practice. He said that missing a couple days of practice won't hurt Rhodes, one of the team's three-first-round draft choices, but it won't help, either.
